Auditing a class requires administrative processing and instructor approval. Not all departments allow auditing.
Restrictions include:
- Kelley School of Business classes may not be audited.
- Spanish classes may not be audited.
- Some School of Public Health classes are restricted.
- Maurer School of Law allows auditing only for degree-seeking law students.
Always speak with your academic advisor and the department offering the class to understand their policies before you submit a request.
Audit tuition is assessed at a rate of $25 per credit hour. In addition to tuition, the Student Services Fee is also charged to auditors. Specific fee rates can be found in the University Fee List (filter for “Mandatory” fee type). Occasionally, classes have special fees (for materials, etc.) that are charged regardless of whether a student is taking the class for credit or audit.
